Merck is the oldest chemical and pharmaceutical company in the world with 28,900 employees in 52 countries. One of our key focuses is on providing the highest quality analytical grade products carrying a Merck brand or sub-brand to the scientific industry globally.
Knowingly or unknowingly, you may have been using Merck manufactured reagent products, either in the form of Merck Guaranteed Reagent or the BDH AnalaR reagent brand, with the latter brand having been manufactured by Merck in Germany for the past 10 years, following the acquisition of the BDH business by Merck in the early ’70's.
However, having recently divested the subsidiary that owns the AnalaR brand, we no longer have control of that brand or the product's specification. Our emphasis in the future will therefore be on Merck branded reagent products (Merck Guaranteed Reagent and Merck Extra Pure), allowing us to continue to guarantee the product quality by ensuring consistent raw material sourcing and batch-to-batch reproducibility. With Merck branded products, we can also provide the required documentation for products that are subject to increasing regulations in specific industry segments.
Therefore Merck will cease supplying BDH branded products. The implementation has started, with the official launch of the Merck brand July 1 2005. The BDH brand will be phased out by the end of 2005.
